Last Thursday, the advanced level English classes had a cooking class at Welly's house with me, Yuen, the exchange English teacher from the United States. It was a great dinner with nice conversation, drinks, and delicious food that Welly cooked himself. The students had a chance to practice their English in a more informal setting. The students shared their experiences of traveling abroad and a few of them have visited and lived in the United States before. Everyone also had fun teaching me important Portuguese phrases and information about Brazilian culture. I learned "nossa" which is a phrase I think I will use a lot here in Brazil. The dinner was a great opportunity to get to know everybody better and for the students to
get comfortable using their English. We also talked about planning a class barbeque for the future and I am looking forward to that!
